Forest School

At Trinity Pre-School we offer Forest School on the curriculum to all our children. Forest School is based on the principles of having regular visits to the natural environment; and local woodlands areas with a qualified Forest School Leader. These sessions have a high child: adult ratio ensuring safety and learning for children at the highest standard.

These opportunities provide children with a hands on approach to learn and experience the natural environment first hand. These experiences help the children develop their self-confidence, self-esteem, communication and practical skills, alongside a more in depth understanding of their natural environment.

Children are encouraged and supported to learn how to manage risk, and take responsibility for making their own decisions, which in turn helps to develop their self-confidence, self-esteem and motor skills. By working alongside their peers children learn the skills of sharing, turn taking and being able to express to others their feelings and share their achievements, providing them a voice in a safe environment, as some children feel less able to into in a more conventional learning space.

At Forest School we help children

  • Connect with Nature.

  • Connect with themselves

  • Connect with others.

The experience of Forest School helps children develop personal qualities of motivation, resilience, critical thinking, persistence, self-discipline, enthusiasm and curiosity.

Each time one prematurely teaches a child something he could have discovered himself. That child is kept from inventing it and consequently understanding it completely
